Programs/Register
The Maine Junior Black Bears youth hockey organization was formed a few years ago by combining the Penobscot Valley Hockey Conference (PVHC), which covered primarily the Old Town and Orono areas, with the Bangor Youth Hockey organization and the Maine Freeze Travel program. The Maine Jr. Black Bears has approximately 500 skaters enrolled from the greater Bangor region and from towns as far away as Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Calais, Newport, Corinth, Presque Isle, Houlton, Willimantic and more!
MJBB programs serve all age groups and all skill levels, including Learn-to-Skate and Learn-to-Play. Twenty-plus teams are currently represented by skaters aged 4 to 18 playing at three different levels (Tiers II, III, IV) in the following age groups: Atoms, Mini-Mites, Mites, Squirts, Peewees, Bantams and Midgets.
Developmental Programs
Ages 10 & under
Midgets
Ages 15-18
U16 & U18 Midgets
These players, ages 15-18, have completed one season of bantams and may or may not be on a high school hockey team. The season runs from October until the beginning of the high school hockey season.
There are no practices and game are usually on the weekend. Players are assigned a team color. Games are full ice, with referees and scorekeepers however there are no standings. This is often a tune up for players planning on playing high school hockey.
If the interest and numbers will support it, we also offer Tier II and III Midget teams.
Middle School
Grades 6, 7 & 8
U16 & U18

Financial Aid
The MAINE Junior Black Bears offers a financial aid program for those players who are in need of financial assistance in order to play youth hockey. This program is open to all youth players who wish to play ice hockey for the MAINE Junior Black Bears teams and is based on financial need only, not playing ability. Please complete form below.

Age Groups
USA Hockey classifies players by birth year, not birthday. For example a player born on 1/1/2000 and a player born on 12/31/2000 are considered the same age because of birth year.
