Parent Info

Welcome to all our new hockey parents!  This is one of the greatest sports for kids.  Not only are they getting plenty of excercise but they are always moving and busy.  Sleep usually comes easy on the days of practice!

All of us were new parents at one point in time.  This page is intended to provide some helpful information as you take this new journey.  If at anytime you have quesions, never hesitate to ask a member of the organization.  Click here for the members of our Board.

Here are a few tips to get you started.

  • Be sure the child's skates are sharp.
  • Arrive 30 minutes early to give time to get dressed
  • Have your child use the bathroom before getting dressed.
  • Hockey socks go over the shin guards.
  • We suggest light weight long underwear or close fitting pajamas to wear under their gear.
  • Parents are NOT allowed on the ice surface or the players benches due to insurance requirements.

Initially it may look like there is more falling down than skating but that is part of the process.  Within a few sessions most kids start to get the hang of it.   One of the keys  to their success is sharp skates.  If it hasn't been done, you may want to have them sharpened.  Gunn's Sport Shop in Brewer can do it for $5.   The 1st week can look fairly disorganized as well from the bleachers.  Please trust that we are indeed teaching and the children are learning at all times on the ice.
